My Review

In this tale of post apocalyptic America, a single corporation  known as NextGen controls every aspect of the lives of the Dentures, those forced to work in exchange for nothing more than the basic necessities of life. If you can call sharing rooms, eating fabricated food products, and being told when and with whom you can have children a life.

The story starts with Leo, a Denture who is content if not happy with his lot in life. Until he stumbles upon a mystery which leads him to a secret underground organization. Their intent is to organize the Dentures in an attempt to win them a better life. But such actions have dangerous consequences. When a Denture turns up dead by apparent suicide, Leo begins to realize just how strong a hold NextGen has on those living in their tower.

From start to finish, Hotel Apocalypse Volume One is an intriguing journey into a world of inequality and strife, where the less fortunate struggle simply to stay alive. The characters are diverse and interesting, the story rife with new twists at every turn. It's a tale which begs the question, what would happen if someone else controlled every aspect of your life? NextGen is a company which seems benevolent, offering those under its protection a safe haven from a bleak and wasted world. But absolute power corrupts, and it just might be that NextGen has an agenda all its own.

I enjoyed this book very much and I'm looking forward to diving into Volume Two. I can't wait to see what happens next.
